The Mountain Top Hiking Tour – Eastern Pass is a challenging and rewarding high-altitude trekking experience designed for adventure enthusiasts who want to explore Oman’s dramatic mountain landscapes. This guided hike takes place near Al Hamra, with sweeping views of rugged peaks and the majestic Jebel Shams dominating the horizon.
The tour begins with a morning meet-up in Al Hamra at 09:00 hrs, followed by a scenic drive to the Eastern Pass, located at approximately 2,000 metres above sea level. From this elevated starting point, the hike unfolds across a diverse mountain route, where wide tracks transition into narrow walking paths carved along the mountainside.
Throughout the hike, guests are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of towering mountain peaks and deep valleys. On clear days, Jebel Shams rises dramatically in the backdrop, creating one of the most striking hiking landscapes in Oman.
Certain sections of the trail are exposed, with steep drops into valleys nearly 1,000 metres below, making this hike unsuitable for guests who are uncomfortable with heights. The trail demands focus and confidence, but rewards hikers with unmatched scenery and a true sense of accomplishment.
A picnic-style lunch break is taken at a scenic clearing beside the mountain path. After lunch, the group begins a gradual descent downhill at a relaxed pace, concluding the Mountain Top Hiking Tour.
