Birkat Sharaf to Misfat Al Abriyeen (5–6 Hours):
Explore one of Oman’s most rewarding mountain trails with the Mountain Hike – W10H & W9, a full-day guided hiking experience that blends dramatic landscapes, cultural heritage, and authentic village life. This scenic route takes you from Birkat Sharaf (Sharaf Al Alamayn) down to the iconic mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, located near Al Hamra.
After breakfast, meet your hiking guide in Al Hamra and drive to Birkat Sharaf, also known as Sharaf Al Alamayn, the starting point of the hike. From here, the trail descends gradually through rugged mountain terrain, offering panoramic views of wadis, terraced slopes, and traditional settlements.
A picnic-style lunch break is taken en route, allowing time to relax and refuel while surrounded by Oman’s natural beauty.
The hike continues toward the historic village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, dramatically perched at approximately 1,000 metres above sea level. The village is renowned for its ancient stone houses built atop solid rock formations, narrow alleyways, and lush agricultural terraces sustained by traditional falaj irrigation systems. A short walk from the village entrance leads to a viewing platform offering breathtaking views over the surrounding valleys.
After exploring the village, the walk concludes at the road parking area in old Misfat, where guests are picked up and transferred back to Al Hamra. The hiking guide departs here, while the driver/guide continues the onward journey.
